iRex DR800SG like new - In Canada - *** SOLD

I bought an iRex DR800SG from Best Buy in USA using the "personal shopping" service from http://www.usunlocked.com, because I'm in Canada.

I received the reader friday (19 march 2010). That is two days ago. I used the reader for two days only. It is in a perfect condition. It's currently in its original box.

I paid (US dollars):

$399.99
+ Best Buy tax and shipping
------
$435.47

+ 43,55$ : usunlocked personal shipping service (10% of the item price)
+ $47.6 : usunlocked shipping cost to Canada
------
$526.62

I also had to pay $33.84 import charges from UPS! (beware when using UPS from US to Canada!)

Pictures (more on request):

I would ask 450$ (Canadian dollars) + shipping fees. I would prefere to sell it to someone in Canada.

Hi,

I'm intrigued why you say it is too small... I'm looking for a device to read mainly technical PDFs on programming and IT... Is 8,1" good enough for reading PDFs without reflowing/zooming ?

Thx

For a technical PDF, you will need the april zoom feature in my opinion. But maybe it's just my eyes that are not so good...

If the document is text only, reflowing works really great though.

It really depends on the original file and how much reformatting you are willing/able to do. Most academic books can be read, as they come, on the DR800 but you run into problems with large format books and journal articles, particularly if they are set up as two columns. I use a DR800 for text heavy academic reading and it's mostly fine. At the moment I have to reflow a few things and if I do that really screws up diagrams and the like. Zooming should be better than reflowing for this type of thing.

I think it's about the best thing available at the moment for certain types of academic reading. If I was doing something with lots of formulæ I would probably think again because of the reflowing issues that they cause.

Can you get warranty service for the 800SG outside of the US, seeing as though it is only available in the US?

Thanks

I have no idea... I didn't even register it yet.

Maybe someone else can answer you about this?

Hi Electrotype

Just found out that IREX does honor its warranty regardless of where one are located, except that the owner is responsible for shipping outside the US. Looking at your picture, the unit is powered off. Just wanted to confirm that the unit powers on, holds charge and otherwise functions normally.

Thanks

Hi,

Where in Canada are you located? Is local pickup available? I'm in Toronto.

Thanks!
