More of a "still" than a repeat lol. I think that one has remained free since I first posted it.

Necrophobia #1 (Zombie Apocalypse) by Jack Hamlyn from Severed Press $.99.

Quote:
An ordinary summer's day.
The grass is green, the flowers are blooming. All is right with the world. Then the dead start rising. From cemetery and mortuary, funeral home and morgue, they flood into the streets until every town and city is infested with walking corpses, blank-eyed eating machines that exist to take down the living.
The world is a graveyard.
And when you have a family to protect, it's more than survival.
It's war.

More repeat freebies from Severed Press.

Dead America by Luke Kieoskie.

Quote:
Life's tough in America. Especially when you're dead. Faraday thought finding a runaway girl would be easy money. But when the girl turns up dead - the first American in decades who hasn't relived as a zombie - Faraday must hit the streets to find her killer. Standing in his way are undead gangbangers, a police force rife with bigotry and lifism, and the zombie crime lord of Harlem. But with the help of a necrophilic pathologist, a severed head named Dorothy, and a reporter that would literally give her right arm for a story, Faraday must discover why the dead girl didn't come back to life. And he better be quick before the animosity between the living and the dead sparks a riot that could burn New York City to the ground. In a country where the afterlife is the same as life before death, can anyone really live at all? Welcome to Dead America. Land of the dead and home of the grave.
Contaminated by Suzanne Robb.

Quote:
Dr. Arthur Covington may hold the key to the most important discovery in the history of humankind. He is, however, not the only interested party.

If he is to survive treachery and attempts on his life in his bid to escape a secure, high-tech facility, he will have to rely on others - but who can he trust?

Underground, an explosion rocks the facility. Someone drops a viral agent.

In a new world where none can be trusted, Covington's life hangs in the balance. It's a race against time...and the end of the world...because it's not just the living he has to fight against. The dead are rising. Dead men walk the halls below the earth, and the only thing keeping him from being contaminated is his gas mask...and it won't last forever.
The Village of Dead Souls by Michael Wallace.

Quote:
Killed in battle, the ancient Athenian, Prometheus, awakes inside a body that is not his, in a future world unfamiliar to him. Trapped in modern day Denver, during the annual Zombie Pub Crawl, he is surrounded by humans with their strange language of moans, and hisses. Joined by a growing number of living dead, the new arrival helps them organize into a well-organized army during the zombie uprising. Only they are not here to destroy the living, they have come to save them.

The future of the human race relies on the necromantic secrets inside the shadows of the Village of Dead Souls.
The Hell Season by Ray Wallace.

Quote:
THE HELL SEASON
Thomas Wright awakens to discover that his family has vanished. None of their possessions are missing. The clothes that they slept in are still in their beds. All too soon it becomes apparent that nearly everyone in town has disappeared, that only he and a few select others remain

Then the sky starts to rain blood.

Torment by Brett McBean.

Quote:
Former jailbird Jim Clayton never was much good at controlling his anger, nor minding his own business. So when he winds up in the tiny mountain town of Billings, Georgia, and witnesses a man attacking a teenage girl named Darlene, he can't help but step in. Unfortunately for Jim, the man is the local Police Chief. And in Billings, the police don't bother with jail for people who assault officers - no, outsiders such as Jim are taken up into the mountains and hunted like wild animals. Only this time, the hunters aren't prepared for a tough ex-con whose will to survive is equal to their bloodlust. Nor a stranger with a most unusual possession - a human soul. A soul he's desperate to sell; a curse he's desperate to be free from. When Darlene buys the soul, unwittingly transferring the curse onto herself, Jim once again steps in to save her, discovering he must face the demons of his past to do so, while fighting to stay alive against the band of savage hunters.
And one new freebie:

Starers by Nathan Robinson.

Quote:
Imagine if you found yourself the attention of the entire world . . .

The dysfunctional Keene family awaken one Saturday to find several strangers and neighbours staring at their home. Events turn more bizarre when more hypnotised strangers arrive, all seemingly transfixed with those within the Keene household. As the ominous crowd gathers and grows larger by the hour the Keene’s find themselves under siege in their own home. With hundreds, then thousands of bodies pressing against the walls of their home, a rising body count and grim premonitions plaguing their dreams, the family must work together to discover who or what is controlling the Starers.

Quote:

The Pumpkin Child
Quote:
Hollis Railsback returned home from World War Two to find both his family business and his high school sweetheart stolen by the same man: Virgil Bayliss. Hollis had always envied Virgil's luck: everything seemed to come so easily to him, while he had to fight for everything he had.

Then one night, after taking a wrong turn on an old dirt road, Hollis finds himself at the shack of Granny Grimes, the old witchy-woman who lives in the middle of a pumpkin patch. Granny Grimes offers to swap his luck with that of Virgil--but once his luck is changed, he can never switch it back. The very next day his luck begins to while, at the same time, Virgil Bayliss contracts polio.

But, after years of good fortune in business and love, when he and his wife experienced trouble having children, Hollis decides to push his luck yet again--with disastrous consequences that finally come to a head on Halloween night.
Judgment Night

Quote:
Four bored teens break into a house on Halloween in order to play a trick on the owner, only to find themselves the prey of a depraved serial killer. Can they survive a night of unspeakable horror and escape a madman's terrible judgment? Find out in this suspenseful tale written by Nancy A.Collins, author of the best-selling Sunglasses After Dark, and one of the undisputed masters of modern horror.
Calaverada

Quote:
It's the Old West, and a group of hired killers have been commissioned to finish off the Wolf Pack, a band of outlaws lead by the notorious Dixie Jim, who have been raiding the gold fields of California and fleeing behind the Mexican border whenever things get too hot for them. When Big Luther and his gang of bounty arrive in Mexico on the Day of the Dead, things only get weirder, and deadlier, from there. Award-winning writer Nancy A. Collins, author of Sunglasses After Dark, delivers yet another tale of the Weird Weird West for your enjoyment.

Free from small publisher, Pigeon Park Press, Clovenhoof by Heide Goody and Iain Grant.

Quote:
Charged with gross incompetence, Satan is fired from his job as Prince of Hell and exiled to that most terrible of places: English suburbia. Forced to live as a human under the name of Jeremy Clovenhoof, the dark lord not only has to contend with the fact that no one recognises him or gives him the credit he deserves but also has to put up with the bookish wargamer next door and the voracious man-eater upstairs.

Heaven, Hell and the city of Birmingham collide in a story that features murder, heavy metal, cannibalism, armed robbers, devious old ladies, Satanists who live with their mums, gentlemen of limited stature, dead vicars, petty archangels, flamethrowers, sex dolls, a blood-soaked school assembly and way too much alcohol.

Clovenhoof is outrageous and irreverent (and laugh out loud funny!) but it is also filled with huge warmth and humanity. Written by first-time collaborators Heide Goody and Iain Grant, Clovenhoof will have you rooting for the bad guy like never before.
I read some of the sample and it looks pretty funny.

The sequels are being given away for free at the publisher's website in Mobi or Epub formats if you send them an email:

Quote:
Two volumes - Clovenhoof's Shed and Clovenhoof Goes To Night School - are available on Amazon right now.

Amazon's pricing policy prevents us giving the volumes (running to over 200 pages apiece) for free. You can pick them up for a ridiculously low price nonetheless.

However, since we DO want you have these stories for free, if you mail us at FreeBooks@pigeonparkpress.com we will send you both stories (in either .epub or .mobi format) by return mail which you can then copy onto your e-reader device.

Clovenhoof Goes to Night School

Quote:
Three friends, three different reasons for signing up for evening classes. Will Ben find that instead of a peaceful new hobby he’s stumbled into eye-watering levels of embarrassment? Will Nerys insist that she knows better than any of the tutors? Will Clovenhoof find a new playground for his unique brand of chaos? When Satan is your neighbour, every day is an education.
Clovenhoof's Shed

Quote:
The three friends each have a vision of how a shed in the garden might improve their lives. Those visions are not necessarily the same, but the person who’s wielding the power tools has the final say, don’t they? When Satan indulges in a little Do-It-Yourself, he’ll get ambitious, he’ll get angry, but first of all, he’ll get blind drunk.

Yet another freebie from Robert W. Walker - Werewolf's Grief (Bloodscreams #2)

Quote:
DEATH BY TOOTH...

An escaped madman is heading toward Chicago, leaving behind a trail of corpses. The victims are savagely torn apart--and partially eaten. Is the killer merely a cannibalistic psychopath... or a creature from the darkest pits of superstition?

...AND BY CLAW

Only the psychically-gifted detective Abraham Stroud dares to think the forbidden names: Wendigo, Sasquatch, Werewolf. And only Stroud faces the most terrifying truth of all...

Wolves travel in packs.
Here's another freebie from Arthur G. Slade that's classified as YA but doesn't sound like it - Northern Frights Trilogy (Draugr, The Haunting of Drang Island, & The Loki Wolf)

Quote:
This omnibus collects all three Northern Frights novels into one. Over 500 pages of fright, action and adventure for young adults and those who are young at heart.

----
DRAUGR

"Are you afraid of the dead?" her grandfather asked.

Sarah Asmundson will discover the answer to that question. She is prepared for her grandfather's scary stories, but is anything but prepared when events from the story about a draugr--a man who comes back from the dead--begin to happen around her. A tale to frighten and entertain the young and the young at heart. The first book in the Northern Frights series.

"Draugr is guaranteed to scare from the first sentence: 'Grandpa was going to murder us,' and the suspense doesn't end until the last page." -- From Independent Publisher

THE HAUNTING OF DRANG ISLAND

"If you're going to die, die with your boots on. That's what my Grandpa Thursten used to say."

When Michael and his father arrive on Drang Island for a camping trip, they find that all the rumors they've heard are true. The island is desolate, sparsely populated and far from civilization. It seems the perfect place for Michael's father to finish the last chapters of his book of Norse stories. Unfortunately, it soon becomes apparent that some of the other rumors they've heard about Drang Island -- stories about spirits, strange sacrifices and a serpent lurking in the ocean -- might also be true!

THE LOKI WOLF

"On the third night the worst nightmare -- the very worst -- invaded my mind. Loping behind me was a gigantic wolf, its jaws snapping together and tearing off pieces of my flesh. There was no blood. No pain. But bit by bit he swallowed chunks of my body until nothing of Angela Laxness remained."
When Angie dreams about being devoured by a giant wolf, her parents tell her it is only her imagination. But later, while on a vacation in Iceland with her grandfather and two cousins, she begins to wonder if the dream wasn't a warning. First, there are strange scratches outside her window. Then she finds out that sheep have recently been disappearing from her uncle's farm. But it isn't until she and her cousins go to the old croft house that they discover the horrifying truth.

2) Of the 20, one is not free. (Sorry, I can't remember which one.)

Again, thanks for the listing.

Thanks for the links to stories by Nancy Collins. Science fiction writer John Shirley used to call her "the George Thorogood of horror novelists," by which he meant her style was satisfyingly gritty.

I'll be interested to see how her fiction has evolved over the years.

I'm in Peru, so that may account for the difference.

I'm seeing a grid of 5 x 4, as opposed to your grid.

Free from Permuted Press - The Seven Habits (A Novel of Time Travel, Apocalypse, and the Living Dead) by William Todd Rose.

Quote:
TIME TRAVEL. APOCALYPSE. THE LIVING DEAD.

Bosley Coughlin can travel through time. And the future does not look good.

Through a heady cocktail of drugs and the occult, Bosley slips through time and space and glimpses The End. Cities lay in ruins, and those who still cling to life hide in the rubble like frightened animals. Walking carcasses shamble through the debris exacting a horrible fate upon any living they find.

This horrific future is the only world fourteen year old Ocean has ever known. Starving and alone, she struggles for even the most basic of necessities: food, water, shelter, love…

In the present, Bosley stumbles across Clarice Hudson and soon realizes that she is much more than a simple shop girl. One by one, she displays the seven symptoms of the contagion that will bring Bosley’s world to an end and create the nightmare Ocean calls home. Clarice may hold the key to stopping the coming apocalypse and sparing Ocean from the atrocities of mankind’s imminent future… but only if Coughlin is willing to push beyond every notion he’s ever held about right and wrong.

THERE IS A LEGEND OF THE SERPENT GOD...

All that remains of its victims is charred human ash--as if she'd been torched from within. What looks like a freak accident to others, Detective Eric Bannon and medical examiner Angelica Hunter have seen before, and they have chased the monster that has spawned in India from where mankind had first encountered its deadly force. They are now truly the only two human beings who have had experience with the Kundalini snake god of ancient India. While they had once thrwarted its deadly rampage, on one continent, they have leaned of its having been reborn in the belly of a cult follower in the sequel, FLESH WARS..

The creature too has learned of its enemy, mankind by the time of FLESH WARS as it was killed or so everyone thought, but the evil returns with a vendetta born of its wicked DNA in book two. Whereas before it only took the prey it needed to survive in its mad quest to conquer a world, it is by book two bent on spreading an epidemic to wipe out all mankind.

The heroic efforts of a cop and a doctor may be mankind's only hope against this monster that has the ability to combust men like tender kindling to suck in the elemental gases of victims, leaving only a few knuckel and ankle bones.

This is the prequel to FLESH WARS wherein the action returns to India where the belief in the creature has spawned a protective cult devoted to its life....

HE'S SAID TO FEED OFF THE CREMATED SOULS OF THE DEAD...

As the temperature rises, so does the chaos. Nationwide, preachers of doom are predicting Armageddon. But when Brannon and Hunter discover the scales of a serpent at the death scenes, the strange clue leads them to a conclusion far more frightening than the Rapture.

HIS POWER GROWS WITH EACH NEW FUNERAL PYRE...

A force beyond all human control has risen up to feed. Spawned from the darkest reaches of hell, it lives on death. Unleashed on earth, it is creating a new hell. But for what ungodly purpose?

HIS LEGEND IS SPREADING LIKE FIRE.
Dr. O

Quote:
Dr. Maurice Ovierto was proud of his handiwork. He removed his little trophies with great care from his victims, wrapped them in surgical gauze and sent them by Express Mail only. Human flesh was much to delicate for regular mail...

He wanted them to arrive in good condition for FBI Inspector Donna Thorpe. She alone understood his special talents, despite the pigs she worked with. He'd killed her partner to make her notice his genius, Now, it was time for her family. Soon Dr. O would have his greatest triumph: Her pain.

(This book was originally published in paperback under the pen name Glenn Hale.)

But another horror is stalking Jessica. The man known as "The Vampire Killer" has escaped from prison, leaving a trail of blood-drained bodies in his wake. No one knows where he is- but they do know that he's coming for Jessica, the woman that put him behind bars.

Now Jessica faces double jeopardy. And not even a new - and unlikely - partner from the FBI's experimental "psychic" program can protect her from two killers...

(This book is fourth in Robert W. Walker's Instinct series. It was previously published in paperback.)
