Fannie Hurst (October 19, 1885 - February 23, 1968) was an American novelist. Although her books are not well remembered today, during her lifetime some of her more famous novels were Stardust (1919), Lummox (1923), A President is Born (1927), Back Street (1931), and Imitation of Life (1933).

This work is not in the Canadian public domain - the author died less than 50 years ago.
However, it is in the US public domain.
It would help if you reported this sort of upload, Crutledge, so that we can host them on our US server.

A good point, Patricia. How do I check the Canadian Copyright and how do I upload to the US server?

Canadian copyright lasts for the life of the author plus 50 years. Works enter the Canadian public domain on the 1st January afterwards.
So anyone who died in 1958 entered the Canadian PD on 1 January 2009.

The US system is more complex:

We keep some US server space for works that are PD in the US but not in Canada.
Only moderators can move things to the US servers. Quite a few uploaders just report their own upload post, so that we can move the file quickly.

Thanks for the books, Charlie. I'm sorry that international law makes the process more difficult than we would like.
