Harper Collins buys Thomas Nelson (US) Publishing

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...227448426.html

According to WSJ the deal should close by the end of this year. Harper Collins (owned by News Corp) already owns Zondervan so it appears they may corner the Christian/Religious market when this deal is completed. Thomas Nelson was privately owned so revenue and profits are not disclosed. Perhaps, HC sees future growth in revenues with digital Bibles and such since Thomas Nelson was an early ebook producer.

I wonder if this is an attempt by an Agency publisher to extend their dominant position. Simply buy out mid-size and independent publishing companies.

Thomas Nelson was having difficulties so I wouldn't be surprised if the choice was go out of business or be sold.

Not if the real topic is News Corp's plan to take over the world. I for one welcome our news publishing overlords.
