after a factory reset, I can no longer install apk from the device directly. Blocked because it's not from the market. It wasn't like that before. Any idea why?

ok, if this is how Google wants to play (assuming it's their fault), then I guess it's back to the BBS and get stuff for free, like the good old WM days

Applanet is a concept which, researched properly (though it's not dicussable here) may bring fruits to your endeavours.

so why doesn't a2sd notice the ext3 partition I created in the INTERNAL flash memory?
Does it only work with EXTernal SD cards? |

are you guys all using an external SD card or are any of you successful in using the internal flash memory for A2SD?

Did you create 2 primary partitions on your card? 1st primary = FAT32 2nd primary = EXT3 Cheers |

just to make sure we're speaking by identical terms, by "internal" microSD you mean, the built-in (non-removable) memory? NOT the memory card you can slide out, right?
when I formated the internal (2GB) (non-removable) flash memory with 1st partition of 1.7GB of FAT32 and 2nd partition of ~150MB of ext3, adb setup says it can't find an unused ext3 partition. Because, you know there is a 2GB partition built-in to the PocketBook 701, and its name inside a file manager shows as Pocket Book IQ 701 or something to that effect. In fact, I removed the 2GB card and replaced it with a 1GB card because I do not store anything in the internal card. May be if you take the card out and format it using a card reader, it may make a difference. 1. Use a credit card and pry the back cover off. 2. remove the microSD card. 3. format it (remember both partitions have to be primary) 4. pluck it back in and away we go !!! Cheers p.s. Icewyng took a photo of the IQ with the back cover off here (you can see the mounted microSD card): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=111673&page=2 Last edited by hiaig; 01-25-2011 at 10:56 PM. thanks for the revelation!
another thing I discovered is that whenever a formated partition is empty, Android will report as "damaged SD card" This is actually in connection A2SD, I found that A2SD setup would fail to find the ext3 partition everytime until I copied something (anything) to the fat32 partition. |

ok, looks like it worked.
For some reason, both my 4GB and 8GB (class4) cards formated with a primary ext3 ~200MB partition (as 2nd partition) yield usably slow performance, but the stock 2GB card works properly. |

hmm, still not stable. After a power off and on cycle, every program disappeared. As if the EXT3 partition disappeared (tho I haven't chk this)

but after a factory reset, everything came back WTF!??!?!?
something tells me, factory reset isn't implemented properly. edit: problem was caused by an external SD card with EXT3 formated partition that was inserted. Last edited by jessie102; 01-28-2011 at 03:55 PM. |

anyways, even with the improved speed of the stock 2GB card. A2SD was still too slow after further testing and clearly has some issues.
edit: it appears disappearing 3rd party apps are still happening after a successful factory reset. I have no idea what's going on. could it be faulty firmware or device? edit 2nd: oops, it appears this problem was caused by an external SD card with EXT3 formated partition that was inserted.
