Hehe... the fix is about 5 bytes long. And it's quite embarassing actually. I could've easily tested it before, but didn't. My bad. But now I HAVE tested in a a Virtual Machine with 6 CD drives, just to be on the safe side
Anyway, now it will take another 2 hours for uploading the current version. I'll update the first post once the files are up-to-date. @twobob: Feel free to update the first post once your mirror is updated (simply remove the red version notice). Just please make sure you don't overwrite dsmid's mirror - your last edit did that . I'd also appreciate it if you could mirror the usb-base file (it's only 1.5 MB anyway)... @Recountryman: thanks again for your help! |

These mirrors are up to date now:
(EDIT: Links removed to save future people clicking old links) File URIs have changed because the new file names do not match with version 2.1. Last edited by twobob; 03-25-2013 at 10:10 AM. |

Some queries:
1. This installs the jailbreaked 5.1.2 right? 2. I haven't used kubrick but it is written in the readme that I have to use arrow keys. I guess i will have to use the right arrow too so how do i substitute it. |

Sorry for being a noob but the command for creating a bootable usb in linux didnt work. I cd to the directory where the kubrick usb image file is and then use this command:
kubrick-usb-base.img of=USB_DEVICE It just creates a file named USB_DEVICE in the directory where the kubrick usb image file is. |

Of course, you need to substitute USB_DEVICE for the path of your actual usb device. What that might be will depend on your system. Check carefully in order to not overwrite your harddisk! Note that you can do this step on other operating systems, too, if you happen to be more knowledgable than on Linux. There are numerous howtos on the web on how to put a live linux system image onto a USB stick, so just google for it.

Hi, I successfully solved a few problems with debricking, but then i got stuck with simple boot of Kindle. I could hold button for eternity, but nothing happen. Also previous step which should take one hour in minimum was done in one minute. So I don't know what to do. Can be the firware broken so much, it can't be rewrite? Or it can be caused by bad battery? So how can I find out if battery is dead? Thanks for help. I really don't know what to do.

I chose jailbreak and default tts files in kubrick and then succesfully updated to 5.3.2 but whenever I enable text to speech, an error box pops up showing something like: text to speech has encountered an error.

1. Does the tts directory exist on the usb drive?
2. Does it work after re-flashing 5.1.2 (and re-installing TTS files)? 3. Does a factory reset help? I have (of course) tested this before releasing it, and it worked for me. In some circumstances, it seems like a factory reset is required to re-enable the functionality. Or maybe a simple reboot helps. |
