Homer: The Iliad, v1, 23.08.2007

First of all, thanks to RWood for getting the Butler translation out there. I myself like the Lang, in prose, and I'm also including the Edward in blank verse. html0 files included. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for posting these. My favourite translation of both the Iliad and the Odyssey are the Richard Lattimore ones, but they are very much still in copyright!

I prefer Fitzgerald myself... If we're talking about old school translations though, I think Alexander Pope's Iliad would be interesting one to jump into.

To revive an old thread, a slightly later thread and posting than yours (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=Lattimore%27s) points to a means to download Lattimore's Iliad for study purposes, which I am currently working with. But you are perhaps already aware of this, as you seem to be impressively aware of just about everything else in these matters.

Harry glad to hear you like the Lattimore ones as well. However I also like both the Fitzgerald and Fagles as well. I especially like the Fitzgerald translation because to me it reads much closer to the original Homeric Greek. It did take me a little bit longer to warm up to Fagles though I freely admit.
