Wink e-note taking and ereader

I am familar with the Sony, Kindle and Iliad. For an ereader my preference is the Sony, I am not crazy about the Iliad even though it has a key feature I am looking for.

My utimate dream is a device I can make notes on, draw, create a grocery shopping list, doodle, capture lecture notes, journal with and sync back to my computer. Utimately and simply eplace the pad of paper I carry around and capture everything electronically in my personal handwriting etc. The electronic pen with special paper in theory is great, but my goal is to eliminate all paper. Is there such an option? i.e. tablet PC but light and portable, compact.

taking this wish one step further can my e-note taking dream be combined with an ereader, but not be the iliad?

The iRex Digital Reader is the follow on to the iLiad from iRex, with similar capabilities.

Based on the iLiad, I initially assumed that "note taking" on eInk devices would be handwriting based. However, it now seems much more likely that everyone except iRex is going to use a keyboard for notes. This will be an on-screen keyboard for most devices. Two reasons for this are:
  • works with and without a touch screen
  • text is easier to associate with an ebook (which is primarily text)
The Sony PRS-700 is already doing this as will the upcoming Mentor line, see Note taking only on Mentor Intrique.

On the other hand, Netronix is advertising "Hand writing note" on its Q3 and beyond deliveries, see http://www.netronixinc.com/product_e-book.htm.

You might consider one of the large screen PDA devices, like the HP 210 or the Nokia 810. They have 4-5" screens, and offer near full PC functionality. If you can rachet down to 3.5", you have a boatload of choices in the used market for PDAs. My ebook reader is an old Dell X51, with a 3.5" screen. I've never had any problems.
