Deleting Items In The Carousel (Steps Provided)

I found this in one of the discussion threads on Amazon.com.

Quote:
Deleting from carousel:

1. To clear apps: settings-applications-Filter by ALL APPS - App Manager-clear data.

2. Delete a video:settings-select more-applications-amazon video- clear data.

3. Clear web pages: web-menu icon- settings
In the web browser settings you want to select "Clear history"

It works!!! All your books and periodicals remain. It's a quick and dirty way to clean up the Carousel when needed.

Now if we can get some customization options for it, that would be great. We should be able to select what content we want to show up there. I don't want my apps and web browsing history there. The favorites shelf is good enough for day-to-day app access and movies/tv shows. And we have browser bookmarks.

Way too many people looking up porn on the fire. I think it's the first thing they did when they opened the box.

Someone mentioned they had their banking information in full view on the homescreen. If someone wants to check out your Fire you can clean up the Carousel before letting them do so. Plus the sideloaded app icons look horrible.

If it's not a concern for you, don't clean it up. What do you want me to say. Every post isn't applicable to everyone reading it. I just shared a scenario where someone didn't want their banking info on their homescreen.

OMG I never thought of that. Privacy issues though I'd never use tablet or phone for banking there is stuff you don't want people to see. Thanks for finding this! It's now looks much better.

Seems like there should be a setting that allows you to display an icon rather than a screenshot of the browser. That would solve at least part of the por...banking problem. And it would be nice to be able to remove any specific icon in the carrousel by either touch-and-hold or swiping up or something.

The only thing that bothers me is my expired library books show up on it. I wish there was a way to delete them.

so you dontsee how someones banking information in full view of anyone in the near vicinity is possibly an issue? .. again not all privacy concerns are nefarious or based on perversion.

I bought my house on a farm because i didnt want to listen to rap music at all hours od the night from my neighbors and i hated the fact that tyhey sat on thier porch all day looking into my house. me and my wife wanted some privacy but if everyone just jumps to you conclusion we moved out to the farm for the porn. <sighs>

Go to your account at Amazon and click on Digital Content | Manage Your Kindle. In Your Kindle Library, choose View: Loans from the drop-down menu. Your library books will be marked "public library." If you want to delete the expired loans, just click on "Actions" (on the right) and choose "delete from library."

cool find, thanks! I still wind up with the last darn web page being displayed as an icon! They need a always clear history on exit option.

Every time you open app it will return to the Carousel. Seriously, Amazon needs to get this resolved!

I did that and they still show up. I deleted them awhile ago and was surprised that they were all on there.

There will be updates to the user interface. I suggest a press and hold gesture to pin something to the carousel and a swipe up to remove something from the carousel. Of course, parental controls need to be improved first.
