The 8 inch looks interesting at a better price. $299 is a little rich for me. |

Alternatives to Samsung include the Hisense Sero Pro 7, which has a front and back camera, a 1280x800 ips screen, a 1.3 ghz quadcore tegra 3 processor, a microsd card slot, and sells for $149.
http://www.the-ebook-reader.com/hisense-sero-7.html Next month Asus is supposed to release their generation of the memopad, which will have a 1280x800 screen, 1.2 ghz quadcore processor, front and back camera, a microsd slot, and sell for $149. |

Ironical but I feel Samsung needs innovative Apple to innovate further.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and like it. I got it off Groupon for $150 refurbished about 2 months ago. I don't use my old Kindle Fire 1 anymore and my Kobo Vox is very slow compared to it but I just paid $60 for it.

Heck, I'd be better off getting a Nook HD+. Those specs are bad for a newer tab. Those are last year specs and even then some older tablets still beat it.

People are too obsessed with supposed SOC speeds and not the actual capability, the Tab 3 is a big upgrade to the Tab 2 in benchmarks it scores about double.
