Kobo drop uk prices of kobo touch
At last, after launching the touch at the staggeringly stupid price of £169.99 @ WHSmith in the UK, today I notice that the price has dropped to a VERY competitive £109.99.
http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndS...ookreader.aspx Kobo have also partnered with FNAC to launch a French bookstore 4th qtr 2011. |

The retailers set the prices. I guess WHSmith figured out that greedy prices meant very few sales.

£109.99 converts to NZ$217, which is pretty good as the Touch is currently selling for NZ$249 (£125) in New Zealand. |

Good Grief indeed. Especially as Kobo heralded a deal with redcoon for a continental European wide deal selling the touch @ 149 euros weeks ago. The only real competition for a touch device in the uk, is the new Sony PRST1 @£129.
Good luck against 'Stralia on Sat in the rugby World cup. |

From what I see redcoon.de still has them as pre-orders and Whsmith only ships to UK. So, for europeans it's still hard to get one. I endend ordering a new one from ebay(US).

I submitted a "Review" of the KT on that WH Smith site stating I thought that KT is a great device. BUT selling it at £170 was insane, considering you can buy one brand new on Ebay for around £100.
That review was never published of course, but I wonder if other people did the same and maybe they figured they'd better drop the price. I feel sorry for those that actually DID pay the full £170 for a KT tho. |

Le tunnel sous la Manche
hey,
Well, you can always cross the Eurotunnel to reach France, go to FNAC, and pick an ebook of your choice. They didn't make such an massive engineering marvel for nothing. regards. |

So both the UK and New Zealand dropped Kobo Touch prices very quickly after the launch. Seems like there were both trying to catch the early adopters and make a quick buck. Whitcoulls in NZ were owned by WH Smith at one stage, but that's not he case any more.

I believe in the UK if you offer something at a certain price for at least 2 weeks, you're allowed to advertise it as "REDUCED SPECIAL OFFER, BUY NOW !!!" and so on thereafter with a reduced price. It's all a bit shady. |

As a french (don't bite), I feel the same. I only hope we will at least play well enough to make the final interesting. |

I will be happy if the teams produce a feast of fast flowing rugby-but finals of anything do tend to be tedious and one sided. Here's hoping. Roy |
