Top Five Classics Freebie

Top Five Books http://www.top-five-books.com/ (scroll down for the classics) has a small line of classics that I particularly like. The Sherlock Holmes books, for example, have the illustrations by Sidney Paget from the original Strand serials.

Right now, you can get "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen with 36 full-color illustrations and other extras for free at Amazon, iTunes, and Google. http://www.top-five-books.com/books-...prejudice.html
(click on the little store icons for links to the books at each store)

Pricing on the other titles varies between stores. The Top Five website lists all of the classics for $0.99, but Amazon has at least one of them for $2.99. You may want to check your favorite store to see if any of the others are free.

Many of these titles are probably available elsewhere for free, but I think these are nice, well-edited, illustrated versions that might be worth paying for.

Interesting find. Pride and Prejudice is also free at Google Play and iTunes as is The Hound of the Baskervilles (I reported the price to Amazon).

There are also some nice, well-edited, illustrated classics here at MR for free.
The Patricia Clark Memorial Library is a wonderful resource.

I believe HarryT used the Sidney Padget illustrations as well for his Sherlock Holmes short stories.

Just FYI, currently only P&P is free and that is only at Amazon (99¢ at the others).
Curiously, Hound is 99¢ everywhere *except* Amazon, which has it priced at $1.99.

I reported the price difference on Hound (when it was free) to Amazon, perhaps report it again at $0.99? Was hoping Amazon would match the free price, but I got it from Google Play and Kobo while it was free.

Top Five Classics has released 3 new illustrated editions of Edgar Allan Poe’s works:

THE RAVEN

EDGAR ALLAN POE: Essential Tales & Poems

EDGAR ALLAN POE: Complete Tales & Poems

As far as I can tell, the 'Complete' book contains everything that's in the 'Essential' book.

As usual, there's some confusion about the prices. Top Five's website shows "The Raven" for free and the other two for $0.99, but the stores are all over the place. Amazon has "The Raven" for $1.99, but the other two are free at the moment. B&N has all three for $0.99. Kobo & Google have "The Raven" & 'Complete' for free, but 'Essential' for $0.99. Kobo is even more confusing because it shows 'Complete' as either free or $0.99 depending on how I search for it. I found it for free using the ISBN 9781938938115 .
