Owner's Lending Library
Does anyone know about the Kindle's Lending library? Do they have a lot of choice? I am always waiting for a long time for books at my local public library for my Sony PRS-T1 and they have such a small collection.
And is it possible to get the Lending library membership on my iPad or is it only for Kindles? |

It is only for Kindle owners. There aren't a whole lot of popular books available, but I have a long list of ebooks (15 at this writing) that I intend to borrow.

Thanks! So is it worth it to pay for it, for you? I only have a Sony PRS-T1, also an iPad 2, but many, many times I check Amazon kindle for books. Not sure if they are cheaper but lots more choice!
If its worth it, maybe a Kindle for the future? (How come some people have so many different ereaders?) |

Prime is well worth having for me, since I do virtually all my shopping at Amazon and it gets me free next-day delivery. The Kindle library is simply a freebie. I certainly wouldn't get Prime just for it.

you are limited to one book per month and less than 10% of kindle books are actually "borrowable"-
divide annual cost of prime by 12 & see for yourself that its probably cheaper to just buy 12 books! you may be able to join more than one lending library with the help of friends/relatives who live in other areas & are willing to share login codes |

It would be easier just to join another library like the Free Library of Philadelphia. $35/yr

I had access to the Kindle lending program for two months and none of the books available interested me. Maybe it depends on the genre, but the one that interests me had mostly self-published books, whose price multiplied by 12 would have been less than the Prime membership fee.
I now borrow from libraries, and it's fantastic. I think I died and went to heaven when I finally discovered eborrowing - if Overdrive were a man, I'd want to marry him and have his babies!! |

I have read some 5 star books in the kindle lending library, and some that I didn't finish. Lending library availability changes, too. I wouldn't get Prime just for the library.

My wife reads most of her fiction ebooks from the Amazon lending library. It allows one ebook per month with an unlimited period of time to read it.
My historical and biographical extensively footnoted ebooks are not available in the lending library per my experience. Last edited by sirmaru; 12-06-2012 at 10:47 AM. |

I just found out I can get mine for free since I work in Philadelphia. So I am waiting on it to be sent to me, I should have it by the time our Winter break starts.

That's great! I got mine for free because hubby is Prior Military. There are a few other libraries that do similar yearly memberships to out of state. You can search for threads for more places.
