Anyone wanna have a go at a Financial Sense recipe?
Hi folks!
Does anyone wanna have a go at a recipe for Financial Sense? I tried myself, but my Python skills are quite lacking. It's a feed with a title, description and the content only contains a read more link. If no one's up for it, no worries, I am a total noob around here anyways... Cheers! If so, here are the details: Title: Financial Sense Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/fso The read more link is like this: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/fso/~3/gaq5PXLR3wc/5206 and takes you to this page: http://www.financialsense.com/node/5206?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaig n=Feed%3A+fso+%28Financial+Sense%29&utm_term=FSO This is when I got stuck.... http://www.financialsense.com/node/5206 seems to be a shortened url the full url is: http://www.financialsense.com/contri...hts-05-10-2011 and the print url is: http://www.financialsense.com/print/contributors/ned-schmidt/gold-thoughts-05-10-2011 I am not sure how to get from the short url to the print url. The only clue is that the print url is linked from the main article page, so perhaps it could be extracted in the python script. p.s. If anyone follows world markets, this site seriously keeps you one step ahead of the game. I'd be running blind without it... (or maybe it's that I am virtually going blind reading it on a LCD... |

that's fantastic!
Wow, that's fantastic!
Thank you Darko Miletic! I looked into your python code, and am even more grateful since that html processing is quite over my head... The only thing that I could figure out myself since making the original post is that the short url /node/1234 also works in "print mode" /print/node/1234, but that's old news now that this is already in calibre and looks great! I am new to the world of ebooks, but I must say that I am super impressed with Calibre and the dev team. I hope you can keep on going with donations and resist the temptation to sell out to one of the big players who would turn it into some high-priced feature-poor commercial-ware... cheers! |
