The product page says they expect it on May 6th (they've got a cheesy video too, nothing new in it, though). That's good news, the first official non-U.S. sales outlet. Good find, Barcy! Thanks!

Well the video claims that you can read "War and Peace" five times on a single charge. I didn't know that. ;-)

Yeah, that's one of their Marketing statistics, it's based on the 7,500 page turns thing.

I put a notice for this on the front-page, BTW.

Just ordered one (I had just come here looking for advice on getting one shipped to Canada - I was surprised by my lucky timing). Let's hope it ships on time.

That site just says "coming soon". The original post said April 4th and there was speculation that it might be announced at the London Book Fair which I believe is now. (April 14-16).

The PRS505 is priced at $299.00 (+ free delivery) on sony.ca.

Based on Sony's pricing in the US, can we expect that to drop any time soon? i.e. is it better to wait for a general release to retailers that might shave a significant chunk off the price?

Sony Readers, Kindles, iPhones, Palm Centro's... been starting to feel second-class with all the fun toys not coming to Canada. About time.

Of course the other thing keeping me from a Sony Reader is that the Connect software is still Windows-only, correct?

I'm sure I would like to go down to a store and see what eInk is like first-hand (last time I tried to see one in the U.S. it was just before the 505 came out and the 500s had all be discounted and sold out).

Still, not entirely sure if I'd be ready to buy one.

Officially,yes.
However a gentleman by the name of Kovid has developed a program that works well in Linux and MacOS-LIBPRS500

You may have also noticed that on April 10, 2008, the Sony eBook Store has updated both, its TOS and Privacy Policy.

Excerpt TOS:
