subtle hint - plug in goes in the plug in folder....see below....

Now in Calibre there are all sorts of plug-ins. Say For instance

File Type Plug-ins

So for instance, if you were installing a *certain type* of Plug-ins you might want to highlight

File Type Plug-ins

Then down the screen a bit at the bottom where it says Plug-In file you'd want to browse to where a certain Plug-In zip file would be stored on your computer and then click "Add"in Calibre.

Then, if your Plug-In came with any further directions, like how to Customize the Plug-In ---- those would probably be contained in a txt File called "ReadMe*XXXX" that you could open up to see how to make the Plug-In work for you specifically.

I had a quick look at the website for this programme, but I notice that there is no address or contact information so I would be reluctant to give them my credit card data.

Reading the original post, I think "won" was meant to be "own" (typo).

Re-read it again and substitute "own" for "won"...and it should make more sense...

...legal to strip drm, illegal to own the tools to do the stripping

Whu?

Where have I been? Has this been posted about lately? I thought the latest cases were actually leaning in the other direction...

[this is NOT a sarcastic post, just - apparently - a clueless one!]

So do NOT google "Apprentice Alf's Blog" and then do NOT go to that site to find links to download the tools needed to do strip DRM from within calibre.

stripping DRM for your own use is W-R-O-N-G!!
I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that I agree with you 100%.
The bad news is that I just got a patent on the alphabet and will start billing in the near future...
I will be charging .0001 cents per letter in your possession in any format. (Backups excluded.)

I was going to patent numbers but have decided 0 and 1 will suffice.

Sorry, I was referring to the 'ebook converter' programme that started this thread.

Neither do mine. I figured it out using windows and I'm far from being a techie. It took a couple of hours of tinkering though. I've also been able to give some pretty easy instructions to a couple of MR members who weren't as lucky as me to be able to figure it out on their own.

Okay, I'm stumped

I apparently know just enough to be dangerous!

abookreader, you have desperation pm.

I used to be able to use the old tools, but I'd really like the plugins to work and I just can't seem to figure it out.

Well, I don't get it.

Do you need a certain version of Calibre to use these plugins?

I got mine professionally done. I can't afford to make mistakes so I leave it to the specialists.
