Bricked Kindle Scribe

Hi. I've got a bricked kindle scribe. Wondering if anyone knows whether serial connections are possible on this model and if so where to find it in the kindle.

I don't think anyone has successfully opened a Scribe without significant damage. Even so, it's not running an i.MX SoC like Kindles of old that had accessible serial pads. It's been moved to a MediaTek SoC and like other modern Kindles may not have serial exposed on the board.

Ah, thanks for the video link. Looks like my memory of seeing people opening a Scribe is faulty. I'm probably remembering other models.

There is also another video where Scribe gets unnecessarily destroyed.

Also, Kindle Oasis 2-3 (and maybe 1) are made with glue, so there it is very hard to avoid breaking the glass. There, a proper way to open it would be by using heating bed (like ones used for BGA soldering) to uniformly heat all the glue.

Certainly the Oasis 2 can't be opened. I'd wonder if the hot-plate would destroy the eink panel. Some have been destroyed left in sunlight inside a car.

My old Oasis 2 survived being left outside overnight completely covered in snow in sub zero temperatures.

That's less of a problem for almost all electronics compared to a shelf in a car in direct sunlight or a hot plate. If it's very cold ( < -20 °C) a battery or LCD might not work till it's warmed up.
