Thanks for posting. I'm going to get my Touch tomorrow, from a company that imports then from the US to the Netherlands. Will update right away

As expected, this breaks the current jailbreak. Never fear, the alternative method found by ixtab still works.

Got it. Had no problems installing.
Does anyone know what the update did for us? |

Dictionaries still don't offer an override option.

So, I looked through all of the patches and the kernel and the java classes and these are the significant changes (well, more significant than most of the changes which are just timestamps):
There really isn't much. |

It is probably just my imagination, but navigating through the menus seems faster.

Good to know the Touch isn't being neglected, hopefully their will be a future update that addresses the collection import problems.

Navigation is more responsive. It wakes up much faster.
The only other thing I've found so far is that it is much easier to jump to a footnote/endnote. Before, the hyperlink tap zone was so small as to be almost non-existent (at least at the text size I usually use—'2') and I was constantly having it turn pages instead of jumping. Now it is much easier to hit the mark. The volume 'slider' (for TTS and I assume MP3/audiobook playback) responds to taps, but not 'slides'. I'm not sure I would have noticed that this was added, I just assumed one needed to use the buttons (which are still there). You can also tap on the PDF contrast adjustment 'slider' as well as the buttons to adjust that. It's definitely a welcome update, but I'm still waiting for KF8, UI language option, and hopefully, the return of a screen orientation option. I'd like to see them fix 'scrolling' also so that it scrolls more nearly a whole page per swipe, instead of repeating the last third of the previous page. |
