Thanks for the heads-up on this! I just sent in my application via Great Canadian Rebates and hopefully everything goes through okay and I can get the cashback deal as well as a free-with-purchase Sony.

It'd be nice to have a backup reader which can natively handle ePub and which apparently I can scrawl handwritten notes upon.

If anyone else is thinking of trying for this and doesn't already have a GCR account, if you want a referral, you can use mine and get an extra $2 upon signup and I get some sort of bonus as well. PM if interested. Or just use this direct link with my referral code in it if you want to, since this deal ends on March 15th and I'll be very busy for the next week. They're quite useful for getting cashback when buying books from Chapters online and Kobo when paying with CC, and I've earned a fair amount that way.

the purchase is in sony store
it is over $30
it has to be sony product

If you have five sony products in mind to buy from the sony store with a value of over $150 then this is a great deal! Otherwise it doesn't sound like much of a deal to me.

Actually, if you read farther into the now-merged RedFlagDeals forum thread linked in the OP, it's been clarified by someone who spoke with one of the Sony MNBA reps near the end of the thread that it can be any 5 purchases (no bill payments, though) and that all the readers will be the black model, and that they won't be mailing any of them out until the promotion officially ends on May 31st.

Mind you, how accurate that particular info is may be up for dispute, but checking the fine print on the agreement, there isn't any particular specification that the 5 qualifying purchases have to be made for Sony products in the Sony store. Perhaps they may have originally intended it that way, but from the looks of the RFD thread, probably got enough protest that they changed it if so.

Yes, the Redflagdeals forum clearly states more than once that any 5 purchases qualify for the free Ereader, except bill payments or cash advances.
