No, but it would have to be pricey. Look at the Que--starts at $700 something for a smaller screen than this and that's only with normal, monochrome e-ink.
With a new color tech, bigger screen etc., this would have to be pretty pricey I'd think. Though that could be debated with deals when buying 3 year magazine subscriptions etc. Also no word on stylus--but I think that would be unlikely if they're marketing it as a magazine reader rather than a business/academic reader etc. |

"E-Magazine - about half the weight of Apple Inc.'s iPad - is made especially for professionals to read magazines or documents with color charts, Lee said."
How do I become a professional magazines reader? " about half the weight of Apple Inc.'s iPad" Now that is something! " is made especially for professionals" Not gonna be cheap. I have a question. Would this size be good for people who need those extra large print books? Has anyone tried out one of the larger ereaders out on someone who has poor eyesight? |

I assume any bigger screen would be better for bad eye sight. I know some Kindle DX owners on here said they bought there's because they need very large print and that's better on a bigger screen as you get more words per page, biggest font size is larger etc.

Delta-the prototype in Seattle had pen input and also bluetooth, wifi , usb and sd slot. the one on the stand and the one that the reps had showing seperately. As for Que- it has a pretty good mark up system and notation system. the notes are even attached to the file and go with it when you send it off in an email or to your computer |

The choice to have ALL of them! Some I would not want, even if I was a professional magazine reader like SameOldStory wants to be and paid to read 'em!

totally agree and thats the publishers again.
you've got the Conde Nast group going with one platform, Hearst going on another, Bonnier another, Time etc etc zinio, olive(plastic logic que) etc etc since Hearst backed first paper turning it into Skiff will they allow competing publishing groups like conde nast on "their" device? If their smart they'll just ask for a percentage to make a little profit off of their competitors efforts but they could also try to squeeze them out . that would be disastrous i think since Im sure other devices like the Ipad will find room for everyone. |

No... I just meant that every single magazine out there should be available in the same, non-proprietary format that can be read on any standard device I choose. So I don't need 2-3 proprietary devices to read the magazines I do want.

This size panel is PERFECT for research materials, reference books, etc...the lack of this size panels is exactly WHY those publishers are not jumping feet first into the ebook market. I know of two in one of the areas I work who are very eager to being pubishing ebook versions and almost everyone who works in those areas has been clamoring for them for a while now. Plus it's a way for these publishers to sell 2nd copies to people as none of us would mind the cost compared to the shelves and shelves of nothing but references. And we NEED color as it is important to the research...but the color must be accurate. |

It's great to see a new screen technology being commercialised (Bridgstone). To my knowledge, this may well be the first non-LCD, non-eInk colour screen available on the market (Fujitsu Flepia was e-Ink derivative, right?). I am personally keen to see what it delivers in terms of refresh rate, contrast and battery life. |

The point about every magazine being readable on every device is the important thing, they can talk about the devices coming free with a subscription but that misses the point that I don't want to carry multiple reading devices and if they try to make me do that then the likely response will be to just get out of the habit of buying a particular magazine. The other important thing is to get the pricing right and not do anything as stupid as zinio have done with their pricing of sfx: http://gb.zinio.com/browse/publicati...ctId=500257014 (Prices for 13 issues) £70 - zinio price £79.30 - price they claim for cover price £51.87 - actual cover price £36.32 - subscriber price |
