Bought a Sony PRS-505 today !!
Hi,
I got a new Sony PRS-505 today. Looks very slick !! Was wondering if there was a tips/tricks page which listed down all FAQs and everything needed to get a new user started (e.g. tips & tricks, where to get books, etc.. which are not there in the manual ) Cheers, Flash |

Sometimes the side buttons will get pressed while you are reading and the screen will go gray and a number will pop up in the middle of the page. Just press the menu button when this happens and continue reading.
Also holding down the bookmark button for a few seconds will bring up the page with all of your bookmarks. |

Welcome to MR, flash2004. I have the 505 and love it.
Have you looked at all the free ebooks right here on MR? They have been beautifully hand-formatted by the members here. I think they are better formatted than the ones offered for free by Sony. Just look at the blue bar up on top and click the triangle next to ebooks. On the dropdown menu just click Sony BBeB (LRF) or EPUB (the Sony reads both) and have fun selecting as many as you want. There is a Deals, Freebies, and Resources section where members list new finds and authors list their books. We have many authors on this site and most very generously offer their work for free to us. Just like Wetdogeared said, check out the Wki at the very top left hand side of this page. There is even a section that gives information about "borrowing" / downloading books from the library on to your 505. Have fun reading all the threads in the forum and ask questions if you need help. Many of us have been the new one and the members are very helpful here. |

Welcome to MobileRead, flash2004. Congratulations on your new reader! Along with the Wiki pages, there is a dedicated forum for Sony readers. I have a 700 and, thanks to the MR community, am able to make the most of it.
Enjoy! |

My favorite tip is to check out books from the library to read on my 505! On the 505 forum, there's a link to the digital library reserve so you can see if your library offers ebooks for checkout.
welcome to the forum! |
