I preordered it, too.
Unfortunately it will have the same plague as the Kindle Paperwhite 1 & 2. It won't be possible to disable the front light completely. I just don't understand why Onyx forces customers to have the front light on all them time? |

In the video the French guy is talking about a backplate that is e-ink. Does anyone no more about that?

You mean can't turn off the front light completely? Why? What if I am using under the sunlight?

So, regardless how big the number of devices for pre-order was: There were some people interested in them. The onyx-boox.com page now carries the notice "Out of Stock". Now we'll have to wait what "after 4th of July" actually means .

android 2.3 is definitely a drawback. but that is the smoothest scrolling i have ever seen on an e-ink device.

Is there really a market for this? People use their smart phones for texting, taking pictures, video, and internet. I can't see how an e-ink display is at all suitable for any of those activities.
I might be interested in it only as an easily pocketed ereader, but I can't see it taking the place of my real smartphone. |

Given the fact that preorders have sold out, it would appear that there is indeed a market for it.
