KF8 compatability
Does anyone here have any sense of when, if ever, the K4 will receive a firmware update for rendering KF8 files?

It already has. Firmware version 4.1 added KF8 support.

@HarryT - I feel like a big dope for asking, but I'm so glad I did, anyway. Thanks!

As an aside, if you email books to your Kindle using Amazon's Personal Docs service, then KF8 doesn't work. Has to be side-loaded using USB.

We should probably also note that a KF8 book might not look any different from a mobi7 book. Just because the author/publisher used KF8 does not necessarily mean they took advantage of any of the new formatting capabilities of KF8.

Actually, all KF8 eBooks will look different. The KF8 eBooks will have a larger line height due to the bug in the KF8 part of the firmware.

Dumb question: When will KF8 make a difference? I have a K3 (which is not compatible with KF8, as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong) and I haven't encountered an ebook on amazon (in Germany) yet that I couldn't read on my device...

Kindles that do not support KF8 will get the Mobipocket editions. |

On a K3, that's absolutely true, but if Torwan were to upgrade to a K4 or a KT, then he'd see a difference.
