Kindle Touch bricked in diag mode
Hey guys,
I am really stupid! I tried to figure out all the little things in diag mode and installed USB XXXXX something... because I thought that would install the SSH. Now, my kindle got stuck in diag mode and doesn't move an inch ;( If I put a USB cable in and hold the power button for a long time, the light goes out. How exactly does the USB Recovery mode work? If I keep the power button down, hold then the magic (home) button down and release the power button and afterwards the magic button, nothing happens! Am I supposed to see something? I have a question concerning MfgTool.exe is there also a version of that program for mac? Could it work if I use get hold of a Windows computer? Can anybody be so kind as to give my some advise on how to unbrick my Kindle Touch? Thank you in advance!!! |

Okay, I figured out that after (probably) putting it in USB Recovery mode, it shows up on my mac:
Kindle: Product ID: 0x0003 Vendor ID: 0x1949 (Lab126) Version: 0.01 Serial Number: (taken off by me) Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: Amazon Location ID: 0x1d110000 / 7 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 |

Is your kindle bricked, or just stuck in diags (perhaps with a dead battery)? In diags, it does not got to low power screen saver mode and can completely drain the battery. There is a menu item to disable diags in the exit menu. You may need to run the first diag in the main menu first to create a missing folder and file before "disable diags" will work.
You should be able to boot to any mode with MfgTool from the "select boot" thread, from USB Downloader (Recovery) mode. This stuff is documented in the simple debricking thread as well. |

Thank you for replying, geekmaster!
Well the battery was fully charged... and should still be, especially with the kindle hugged up to my laptop! My kindle doesn't do anything! I cannot push anything on the touchscreen, pushing the power and/or magic button doesn't change that fact ... I guess I have to install Windows and hope that the MfgTool can help me! |
