PRS-505 Fine Verticle Black Lines on Screen!

I noticed lately that my Sony 505 has developed numerous fine black verticle lines on the reading screen. Is there any way I can repair this without sending it back to Sony Service? Has anyone experience similar problem and and suggestion on how to repair this will be very much appreciated.

This sounds like the decoder chip is faulty or the screen-PCB connection is not reliable. You could try disassembling it and re-seating the screen connector.
