Help with Kindle Keyboard (Empty battery)
My girlfriend has a Kindle Keyboard, it's been like a month since it got the Empty Battery warning. We tried to charge it, different USB cables, PC/Wall, and all it does is that the orange light comes on for like 7 seconds and then turns off. That's it. The warning is still on the screen, We even bought a battery replacement but we were disappointed when the same thing happened with the new one.
It's imposible to do a hard reset, it's like dead, it's not the USB Cable because I have another K3 and it charges just fine with the same cable. So that's the only thing it does, the orange light comes on for seven seconds and then turns off. You reconnect it, and the same thing happens. I appreciate any help you guys can give me. Leave it connected to the wall charger overnight.

I'm having the same issue. I left it on the charger overnight and nothing. Tried all of the reset options too and nothing ever happens. Was thinking bout ordering a battery but may just scrap it. Any other ideas?

Ok after reading a little more, I tried switching out the usb cable AND ac plug base to another mini usb ac base and cord I use for my android phone. Like magic, the flashing orange light became solid and 20 minutes later my Kindle was back to its normal self. Simply switching the cord did not do the trick. In fact the cord still works on my phone, so I'm guessing the charging base was the culprit. And yes I was using the stock ac charger. I Hope this helps you too.

If your battery is REALLY flat, it may need to be connected to the wall charger for several hours before showing any signs of life at all; that was the reason for my recommendation to leave it connected overnight.

Thanks, I'll try to leave it overnight and I'll let you know how it goes.

I left it plugged to wall for about 14 hours and nothing Funny thing is, if I remove and place back the battery, the green light goes on for 10 seconds, so it's trying to reboot but something's getting in the way.

Sounds like a dead battery. You can buy replacement K3 batteries pretty cheaply - might be worth doing.

When the time came to replace my K2i's battery I had a very similar experience...including the brief green light when the battery was removed and replaced. I suspect your battery is dead. It was very easy to get a new battery. If I can remember where I ordered mine from I'll post a link for you.
Here's a link...they were quick and good customer service. Last edited by GoSharks; 10-20-2013 at 11:16 AM. Reason: added link |

I think I'm giving up, it looks like it's some hardware issue. Her Kindle has, of course, no longer a warranty. So I guess if it's indeed a hardware issue there's nothing else to do. |
