Keeping Fonts intact

Hi,

I've just joined as I'm a writer with little technical experience in th ebook conversion field. I have a novel which I want to convert to epub & mobi, but it uses 5 different fonts (all standard in Word) which need to remain intact (i.e. so the reader cannot change them).

Can caibre do this? If so, how?

If it can't, is there any other way to keep the fonts styles?

Ideally, I'd like to keep the function so that the reader can change the font size, but not if that means they can change the font style.

Thanks for your help.

Nigel.

Hi Nigel and welcome to MobileRead!!!
I don't know about mobi, but in epub, you need to use font embedding and css to make sure that your fonts are not replaced by the reader's default fonts. That's not complicated if the fonts are free. If they are not free, I think you have to buy a licence to use them and maybe encrypt them before including them in your ePub.

Pablo,

Thank you for your reply. The fonts are free as they come with Word 2007, so looks like I just need to figure out how to embed them with calibre.

Thanks again.

Nigel.
