Lost in Android Land

I am a non-techie, but recently bought an MID Tablet. I want to use ereader software and have downloaded several from Borders, Barnes & Noble, FBreader. I am not able to install. All attempts say I do not have permissions.
What permissions do I need and where do I get them?

Hi welcome to MR.

I have an Android tablet and a cell phone with two reading apps, sometimes if the application is not downloaded from the market it will not allow you to install it, at least I have experienced that.

Use coolreader! Download from market! Which MID do you own? Does it have market?

My tablet is a 7" Touch Screen MID Google Android Tablet PC Laptop E600. I attempted to download Cool reader from the market and got a message saying, essentially, that I did not have permissions to open up the file. Where do I get these from?
