Best format in DR1000s for Images?

I have a lot of images and I failed to load them into my SD card.
They are about 12000 images and files size all around 100k. Yes, they are my comic collections.
I need to convert them into some other format like epub or mobi. I test the pdf but performance is bad. Every 5 page I got a long delay.

I read it in DR1000 and I have fbreader installed.

So which format I should use?

Thanks.

Can't you use just JPG or PNG formats?
