That won't affect Marvin which currently only displays the 24-hour format there.

Untrue - the UK assuredly does use the 24h clock. (Although why anyone would call it "military time" is a little puzzling.)

Coz the military in the US uses the 24hr format whereas the rest (of the US) mostly use the 12hr format. They even speak it differently...where you would just say it's 2 o'clock they'd say its fourteen-hundred

That was how it used to be. Must have been an unannounced change -- or can anyone point it out in Marvin's changelog?
Officially, yes, but am and pm are still very much alive there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_an...gdom#English_2 There's nothing wrong with that -- just wanted to point out that what is termed "military time" in the US is, in fact, the standard in the global context, while am/pm is a minority convention. In any case, it would be useful if Marvin let us fully customise the date/time display. Last edited by Faterson; 09-23-2013 at 08:38 AM. |

On iPad (because there's space for the "am/pm") the clock will show according to your device's regional settings.

Ah, yes -- so that only related to the iPhone.
I would suggest, though (as proposed above), that the iPhone should respect the device's regional settings, too (until Marvin's internal date/time customisability is possible). I believe you can simply skip the am/pm on the iPhone, because they are not needed in practice. Skipping am/pm seems to me a better solution than enforcing "military time" for everyone, and after all, Marvin's largest proportion of users are from the US, to whom "military time" will seem weird, too loudly pointing to Marvin's European origin. |

Mine iPhone *IS* on the 12 hour format and not the 24 hour one. Marvin still shows it as the 24 hour one.

Kris needs to change that behaviour first, Shykat. He indicated above he would do so.

I've sorted this out. M for iPhone will show 12/24 hr clocks according to your device settings (M for iPad already does this). If you choose a 12-hr clock, I'll drop the "am/pm" bit to make space. Expect it in a point update soon (but not the very next version - it had already been submitted before I was made aware of this).

WOW - and all I wanted to know was how to get it back on the iPad - but great discussion. As always, I learned so much. My Marvin on iPhone is showing in 24 hour format even though phone is set for 12 hour format.
We look forward to the update when available - thanks Kris and Faterson for clearing this up. |
