Not sure if this really qualifies as news...
I got an e-mail today that a Sony Reader app is available for iOS. According to the e-mail:

It's funny--the first thing in the description of the app is an explanation that they have "fixed the initial problem" with the software. So typical Sony.

There is a thread in Deals [Sony Reader App for iPhone/iPad/iTouch] and one in the Sony Forum [Cannot sign into Sony Reader app for iPad] about the app. There were some problems at first with signing into the app with your adobe ID.

It took me a while to find it in the app store, as it is just called "Reader", and I kept searching for "Sony". The app has a green background with a white outline of an open book. It looks like it was developed by Bluefire.

Nope, not here in Japan. There are a ton of book reader apps, though, both for English and Japanese.

i downloaded it today. it is useless with pdf's, i havent seen slower opening of pages in pdf magazines ever! have tried some epub sample in app itself, and it works ok. so far, i'm not impressed...
