Kobo eReader only shows partial list of files, picked randomly

Hello there,

My sister got a Kobo eReader wi-fi last month and she's having trouble using it. Somehow, no matter how many PDFs she loads on the SD or the internal memory, the reader will act as if only some of the files are there.

She is able to see the files through Windows, when she plugs it via USB. I thought that maybe some of the files could be corrupted; but then, if she deletes one of them, next time the device will start showing other files randomly.

Any ideas on what can be happening?

System reset to default settings could help. It sounds that Kobo's internal database index is somehow messed up.

PDFs on the Kobo-WiFi are not seen as books, but as documents. A whole lot of folks have missed their PDF books because they didn't check there.

She is accessing the Documents menu. Factory reset didn't work... but thanks for you help anyway.

I had problem once with books not showing up in Kobo wifi SD card library. I think it was because it wasn't safe to remove before disconnecting from computer. I tried deleting books and adding them again. Formatting the SD card and adding books. Just formatting SD card. Books showed on the SD card but not by Kobo wifi. Even did factory reset. Books were still on SD card after formatting but not seen by Kobo. Loaded my books onto new SD card to get it to work.

Just out of curiosity, try renaming the PDF file for one of the books that doesn't show up. I am wondering if it is a database problem where part of the database says "I have already seen this book" and another part says, "there is no book here".
