Calibre Thinks My 505 is a Pocket Edition - Page 2

SONY decided to give the 600 the exact same device ids as the 700 and the 300 the same as the 505. You'll have to ask SONY why they did that.

Oh I understand that. But in Calibre it either changed or was added (in front of, search order-wise) of the 505. I assume by what you are saying the 505 info is still in there but it is finding a match on the 300 information first.

No, in calibre the 505 and the 300 share the exact same driver.

Hmmm, I just got home and tried mine and it comes up fine as s 505 (and it is a 505

).

While the balloon says it's detected a Pocket, the main window identifies my reader (correctly) as a PRS505 and I have the option to send books to a memory card.

So not a big deal.

Oh. I didn't notice what the pop-up says, just the name in the header of the app.

One is the description while the other is the driver in use. A PRS-300 user will see the PRS505 identifier because it's the same driver.

Yep, I just checked, that's exactly what happens. The pop-up says pocket edition, the identification on the application header says PRS505
