Swapping internal micro sd cards for 701 IQ
Hi everyone, I want to swap a 4gig card for the 2gig.
What's the proper procedure to follow? 1. Where and how to format the new card? ie. windows? linux? vfat? ext3? 2. After physically changing the cards, do I re-flash with the PB 2.02 or 2.03 before re-flashing with the Repack firmware. Is this the way? If swap the cards I will have enough memory on board to try more apps, without going the ap2sd route. Thanks everyone for putting up nicely with us noobies. Gene Lake |

the internal card is the same as the external card. swapping it out does not allow you to add more applications.
Personally, I do not see the point of swapping out the internal 2Gb card for a larger one. In fact, I swapped mine out for a smaller 1GB card. To add more apps, you need to go to the a2sd route. If you are not going to go the a2sd route, format your internal card FAT32. Cheers |

Thanks for clarifying the issue, I was mistaken about the internal memory.
OK, new questions. If I go the a2sd route; 1. How do I format the external SD card? Windows, linux vfat, ext3? 2. If a ext3 partition is used how do I copy apps to it from my windows computer? 3. The instructions for getting 'a2sd' to run are not quite clear to me, I have re-flashed with the Repack. I did root around and found the a2sd file in the proper place, now how do I turn it on? 4. Do I still have to use 'adb' from a desktop to get a2sd running? Thanks again for the help. lglake |

take the internal card out and format 2 partitions:
First partition - Primary - FAT32 Second Partition - Primary - EXT 3 I would make the second partition small (ie. 200 -300 Mb).... This is where the applications will be installed and the larger the partition, the more unstable it will become. re a2sd, easiest way is still adb it. adb shell su a2sd setup cheers |

@ hiaig < take the internal card out and format 2 partitions: >
Do you mean the internal card? Not trying to be a know-it-all, but those are the instructions for the external card I believe. Thanks for the info I'll reread the repack thread again and again until I brick my IQ 8^). I just thought that by increasing the internal memory, I could bypass the a2sd, and the adb route. Alas no silver bullet. lglake |

Or you could install the unofficial patch from this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=118179
It installs a2sd for you. |

@ MmavisO
Thanks for the tip. I'll try it today. Thanks hiaig for clarifying the bit about which card, after using xbuntu to partition as per instructions, I still did not see any improvement, so I returned to the original internal card. Thanks for putting up with me. lglake |

Thanks to hiag and MmavisO for your tips and help.
I was away from my desktop for 2 weeks and could not finish the a2sd setup, but it is now installed and setup along with the 4gig card. Thanks guys. I'm done with this one. Gene |
