I think the word "metro" is the least of their worries.
the new layout is totally different to any of their previous O/S.
If used in classic mode
" Windows 8 does not allow any other internet browser to function in the privileged Classic environment, which has provoked the ire of Mozilla and, presumably, other internet browser companies as well."

Seriously?
Didn't MS already fight and lose the OS-Integrated browser battle years ago?

Windows 2003 is one of the best. Our server still runs this version. The only thing that ever caused it to crash in many years of using it is one program that isn't 100% compatible. Never freezes, never slow down, even with a number of people accessing the system simultaneously.

No, you can use as many different browsers as you can find and prefer.

Sent from an iPad using Icab browser... iPad safari browser was rubbish when we got this ipad... no tabs, terrible bookmarking and on and on.
Plenty of other alternatives, also.

According to wikipedia Aero is a backronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, and Open.

As I was looking to see if Metro was a backronym as well I found this:
Microsoft: It was never 'Metro,' it was always 'Modern UI'
Despite the title of the article, the author seems to think that it wasn't always 'Modern UI'.

Even if it were true, which apparently it isn't, it's not the same thing. No one said you can't make a device that only runs the software you want it to. The MS IE issue, IIRC, had to do with the idea of licensing the OS to vendors, and forcing certain application software in with the deal in an anti-competitive way, claiming it to be a integrated part of the OS.

Note that that's talking about Windows 8 RT - the ARM tablet form of the o/s - NOT the PC version.

And in the ARM Tablet arena MS has Zero constraints; they can bake anything they want into the ROM (like MS OFFICE). It's a whole new, "post-PC" world, after all.

I've been saying this for a while now, and nobody seemed to care. Maybe they'll listen if you say it?

Doubt it.
People only listen to what they want to hear; the source doesn't matter.
Repetition does seem to help a bit with some, though...
