Go to m.opera.com and it should offer a Direct Download link. That's how I got the APK. The first one will be for the Market version, so skip that one.

I installed it from dropbox.

The process I followed was that I used the installed browser, navigated to dropbox, signed in with my dropbox account and downloaded and installed the dropbox app from there. I then use my computer and saved the other apps into my dropbox file (My Dropbox). If you do this, when you press an apk from within dropbox on your Vox, it will start the install process.

The first app I installed, btw, after dropbox was the Opera browser, it has made the Vox so much more usable, IMO.

as pointed out by taming, http://www.freewarelovers.com/android has a pretty extensive library of apps. I was able to find most of the apps I was looking for through their search.

When I search for an app, I often put the what I am looking for and the word apk in my browser search bar, if I know the entire apk file name, I search on that. So, for example, I might search on Dolphin apk or DolphinBrowser.apk. Generally you will find a slew of sources. It is then your job to figure out if the source is reliable enough to use.

freewarelovers does have a whole lot of apps, so does apktop.com. Some folks think that apktop is pretty sketchy.

When the first page has titles like "cracked" and "FULL" version describing program titles.. you get the impression that it's sketchy, yes.

Where can I download apps like Kindle for my Kobo Vox? I can't seem to do it on either their app store or the android market?

Aldiko (ebook organiser) - A lot of people talking this one up, still have to try it myself.

Angry Birds - A classic that actually runs fine on the Vox, not as smooth as on some other tablets but very playable without problems.

Scrabble (pre installed) - Had to mention this, its fun and a good game to play when you are two persons travelling for example.

Dropbox - works great makes it easy to access your files on the go

(Suggested by user friktion)

Dolphin browser - the other browser Kobo is set up with crashed a few times. And yes, an A++ for Aldiko. (comment from JD Gumpy - I wouldn't recommend Dolphin HD any more - it's been caught harvesting URLs.)

The Kindle app, too. Works well, even downloads your "cloud" books.

ASTRO File Manager - See friktion's post further down on page 1

by sensualpoet

TuneIn Radio Pro - free at kobo.getjar.com and it's a pretty good radio finder / player that works without a hitch.

Opera Mobile Browser - (11.5.1 is current). It shows how powerful the hardware actually is, delivering good quality video in standard web pages. BBC News, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera all look incredible with it.
