Zombie apoc help
Hi guys,
recently got into reading books about a zombie apocalpse. so far ive read.... JL Bourne- Day By Day Amarageddon and Beyond Exile- WOW what a read Z.A Recht 2/3 of the trilogy- Again WOW I found Joseph Tallutos white flag of the dead series REALLY good, book 5 has just come out, and typically cant get yet (pay day next week) Also Stephen Knights Gathering Dead novels, are highly addictive, cant put it down. Im wondering what else there is out there to read, anyone found something unknown thats turned into 'checking store daily for next novel' kinda stuff. WHile im here, is there anywhere you can download free ebooks, ive found a few places, but dont have much of what im interested in. BTW Nice site here, like it already. Phil |

Hi, BigPhil.
Hello, and welcome to MR. As to your request for a site for free ebooks: well, you're already here! Although MobileRead doesn't directly provide free ebooks (other than an excellent selection of older public domain books), it is the best place I've found for locating free ebooks from a range of vendors. I got my first ereader at Christmas time, and i've downloaded roughly 400 free ebooks since then, nearly all located through the helpful readers posting on the Freebies & Deals forum here. Obviously, not all in the genre you prefer, but I'll bet you would have found at least 40-50 specific zombie-genre books during that period. Chances are good you won't find all of them worth reading-- I anticipate discarding a large percentage after trying a few chapters, but that's okay with me for free ebooks! Plan on checking the forum here daily-- a lot of the free books are only free for a day or 2, and then return to normal pricing. If you want to explore on your own, I suggest www.ereaderiq.com , which is a search engine that mines Amazon for free ebooks. You can filter by genre (I'm guessing you'd want to limit to SciFi & Horror). Same suggestion to check frequently, as the free books constantly change. Specifically, you might want to watch out for Scott Nicholson novels-- not all zombie, but he's a well-respected indie author who rotates through offering his novels as temporarily free, with very reasonable standard prices. Not free, but you have to read "World War Z" by Max Brooks - http://www.amazon.co.uk/World-War-Z-.../dp/0715637037

Dead City, Apocalypse of the Dead and Flesh Eaters by Joe Mckinney
Resurrection by Tim Curran (huge book, its almost 700 pages but its excellent) Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines (superheroes vs zombies) Eternal Unrest by Lorne Dixon (not zombies per se but mummies. you don't see too many mummy novels) |

My personal recommendation is The Living Dead edited by John Joseph Adams (it has a sequel too, The Living Dead 2).

I wanna add "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson to the list. It's not a zombie story (it's about vampires), but it was the inspiration behind Romero's "Night of the Living Dead," which along with the sequel "Dawn of the Dead" set the standards for pretty much every zombie movie that followed.
Plus it's jut a really entertaining book. And it's short! A novella really. Don't be turned off by its connection to that crappy Will Smith movie, the two share little more than a title. |

Will Smith? Johnny come lately. Try Charlton Heston in The Omega Man (1971)!

Heston? Pah. Try Christopher Lee, The Last Man On Earth (1964).

Good one, especially since Matheson co-wrote the screenplay. I'm not seeing Lee in the credit listing but... Vincent Price!
