Maybe what people who read in public really need is a book cover that says either "Ask me about my book!" or "Please leave me alone" depending on one's mood

From the article it sounds like the author is disappointed that he has to go back to reading his own book. If he wanted to spend his time people watching, why did he bring a book with him in the first place?

Oh well, bet buses ruined some other culture, like walking down the dirt road getting to the quarry while yuking it up ;-)

I long for isolation in public transport so it all sounds like good news to me.

Because it's considered excessively rude to be openly watching other people in public spaces when it's not your job specifically to do that.

Perhaps the author years for double sided e-readers... one side for reading and one side for displaying the cover art!

The Nintendo 3DS has a feature called StreetPass where, even when in Sleep mode, the 3DS detects other 3DS nearby and swaps user tokens and simple information, including the last game you played. This is, of course, entirely optional.
But a similar scheme could work for eReaders to swap the book title and cover thumbnail amongst other eReaders in the vicinity. All in the background. Then the curious could get their fix, and those who want privacy can simply not enable it. |

I'm guilty as charged, I always look what others are reader. Always put a smile on my face when I see a cute girl reading a book I love! Maybe if I was single... :P
