Something for which I'm glad...
Dogs.
No matter how crazy the world gets and how cunning and evil people can be, you can always count on the love, loyalty, and sympathy of a good dog. Every morning when I come home from work, no matter how bummed out I am by the politics, power plays, and backbiting, I'm always cheered by the greetings of two wonderful dogs who always jump up and down as if I've just returned from an extended ocean voyage. I bend over to pet them and share a few minutes of their company, and their enthusiasm and joy never fails to brighten my day. What makes you happy today? Not as heart-warming for sure, but I discovered today that white Burgundy wine tastes just like Chablis but is much cheaper due to being on offer at our nearest supermarket.
That made me happy today. |

Cats! The only critters capable of saying "Iloveyoufeedme" without taking a breath. What is especially wonderful is their ability to sense if you don't feel good or are worried about something. There's something special about having a "nurse cat" planted in you lap purring non-stop when you don't feel good - physically or mentally.
[Of course, if the purring doesn't work, they promptly distract you from your troubles by yorking on the carpet! Highly effective too!] |

I totally agree about dogs and cats but I will add a true friend(s). I am not talking about acquaintances but a true friend who is there when you need them. Knows you well enough to know when you need to talk, when you need to laugh or possibly cry or just need to be left alone.

That sounds delicious. I don't believe I've ever tried it and have no idea where to buy it here. Perhaps I'll have to make it from scratch. What kind of hammer do you use and how long do you hammer it?

The outdoor pool at the local university! It was built as a WPA project in 1938, essentially putting a bottom to an existing pond. It's enormous at 50 yards wide, not long, with sloping sides reflecting its origins, surrounded by grass and trees, and very lightly chlorinated because the water goes right back into the woods. It's unique and wonderful.

Those are some long whiskers on that cat. Does he/she use them to wake you up?
Beautiful colouring and striking eyes. |
