Confused about what size you should make your book cover

Hi

Can someone help me please.

I've just downloaded: Building your book for kindle and it says size of your cover should be 1000 x 1600 however I've seen elsewhere that it should be 1562 x 2500 which one is the one to use

Those are basically identical proportions. Won't the kindle scale photos down appropriately?

Instead of using a constrained bitmap image (jpg, png, etc), think about doing everything in a vector format. Epub uses svg, for instance. This way your image can scale smaller or bigger without any loss in image quality.

This is important as display sizes change. Think of the iPad 1 resolution vs the iPad 3. Now think about versus a smart phone.
