Free (nook/Kobo/HQN) More Than Words series [Biographical Romance]
Harlequin have (once again) added to their set of freebie series of "Bestselling authors & Real-life heroines" featuring their authors writing mini-romances based on the lives of women who've inspired them.
These are multi-store freebies and should show up pretty much elsewhere eventually. Since they'll likely be adding more later at some point, I'm just going to do brief single line links with the overall series blurb for the descriptor. As of 2014, there are now at least 9, and I'll be using this thread to continue to round them up and update for new store links from now on. And this is now the (retrospective) selected 3rd (non-repeat) ebook thread of the day. Because it's pretty nice of Harlequin to keep these things free for so long, paying forward the inspiration that these notable women have given to their writers. Enjoy! Series Description We all have the power to effect change--we just need to find the strength to harness it. With every good deed done, and helping hand offered, we are making the world a better place. The dedicated women selected as this year's recipients of Harlequin's More Than Words award have changed many lives for the better, through their compassionate hearts and unshakable commitment. To celebrate their accomplishments, bestselling authors have written stories inspired by these real-life heroines. The newest three: (NB: for now the direct HQN links are glitchy and say the books can't be purchased yet, but I'm sure they'll fix that eventually) A Place in Her Heart by Trish Milburn, about Linda Burston and the Women's Lunch Place which provides food and shelter for homeless and poor women @ B&N, Amazon & Kobo & Google Play (all available to Canadians) & directly from Harlequin (eventually) A Wing & A Prayer by Andrea Laurence, about Ann McGee and the Miracle Flights for Kids organization providing financial assistance for medical air travel to improve sick children's access to healthcare @ B&N, Amazon & Kobo & Google Play (all available to Canadians) & directly from Harlequin (eventually) Never Too Late by Christi Barth, about Megan Yunn and the Beverley's Birthday organization which enables underprivileged kids to enjoy birthday celebrations which their families might not otherwise be able to afford @ B&N, Amazon & Kobo & Google Play (all available to Canadians) & directly from Harlequin (eventually) Earlier ones from 2014 You Are Here by Liz Fichera, about Cheryl Senson and the Jubilee Women's Center which helps impoverished and homeless women rebuild their lives @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) Red at Night by Katie McGarry, about Nikki Berti and the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation which allows underprivileged kids to choose their own shoes from a retail store to prevent stigmatization from class differences @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) The Gift of a Good Start by Earl Sewell, about Elizabeth Roelfs and the Diller Community Foundation which funds local youth programs in the small rural district @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) 2013 Just Joe by Carla Cassidy, about Helen McGovern and the Emergency Food Network which provides temporary food assistance to hungry persons in need @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) Light This Candle by Cindy Dees, about Mindy Atwood and the Patches of Light charity which offers financial aid for families with critically ill children by providing assistance with their day-to-day non-medical bills (i.e. rent, utilities, groceries, etc.) @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) Good Neighbors by Sheila Roberts, about Sally Spenser and the Youth Assisting Youth charity in Ontario which helps arrange mentorship for at-risk youths by providing positive role models from their own peer group @ B&N, Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), directly from Harlequin (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide), and can be added to your library at BookShout (online reading & in-app download) Older ones still available (stores not updated yet, I'll do it when I get back): Maxwell's Smile by Michelle Hauf about the Barta Sisters and their Kid Flicks non-profit org @ B&N, Kobo, Harlequin. Harlequin has recently added another 3 books to this series, and kept the previous ones free, so I'm going to use this thread to collect them all.
The latest have been added to the OP, and once I get back tonight I'll check and go through the earlier ones to add in any store updates and round up any others that might have popped up in the past two years. Enjoy! |
