Buchclub - Vorgespräch zum Thema Abenteuer im Dezember 2013

Wir beginnen mit dem Vorgespräch für das Buch, welches wir ab dem 1. Dezember gemeinsam lesen wollen. Das Thema für das Jahresende ist der Abenteuerroman.

Edit:
Das Thema wurde in Abenteuer umbenannt. Es können Vorschläge aus allen denkbaren Genres gemacht werden, die abenteuerliche Elemente enthalten.


Dieses Thema soll dazu dienen schon ein kleines Vorgespräch zur Buchclub-Nominierung (11.-14. November) zu führen und natürlich auch etwas Werbung dafür zu machen.

Wie beim letzten Mal, wäre es interessant zu wissen, wer dabei ist, wo die Interessen liegen, welche Autoren gewünscht sind oder was ihr für Erwartungen habt.

"Abenteuer" klingt so einfach, finde ich aber schwieriger als ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Wenn man mal von den Klassikern Verne, Dafoe, May usw absieht was soll man da definieren?
Amazon listet unter "Abenteuer" hauptsächlich Kinder und Jugendliteratur sowie Reiseberichte. Ausserdem diesen ganzen Wanderhurengoldhändlerinnensonstwasquatsch.

Ich persönlich hätte nichts dagegen einen der Klassiker nochmal zu lesen (z.B. das hier, alternativ einen Reisebericht. Vielleicht sogar etwas in Richtung "Ich bin dann mal Weg!"

Mit dem Thema Abenteuer verbinde ich vor allem den Aufbruch ins Unbekannte, also die großen Entdecker wie Cook, Wallace oder auch Humboldt.

Ich habe z.B. noch Die Vermessung der Welt von Daniel Kehlmann hier liegen, was dazu passen würde.

Zum Stichwort Abenteuerroman habe ich auch häufig das Buch von Wolfgang Herndorf Tschick gefunden.

Auch würde ich die Suche des Jungen in Jonathan Safran Foers Roman Extrem laut und unglaublich nah als Abenteuer bezeichnen.

Das um mal ein paar aktuellere Werke ins Gespräch zu bringen.

Schwieriges Thema. Die Wiki ist da wirklich nicht sehr hilfreich, finde ich, da sie eben vor allem den Abenteuerroman des 19. Jahrhunderts propagiert.

Entdecker an sich finde ich gut, allerdings bin ich sowohl von Die Vermessung der Welt als auch von Life With Pi frontal abgeprallt. Und von Wanderhuren halte ich auch nicht viel.

Abenteuer im weitesten Sinne wäre z. B. auch Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis von Douglas Adams.

Gut zu wissen, meine Vorschläge waren jetzt auch alles Bücher, die ich selber noch nicht kenne, die ich aber auf der Suche nach dem Abenteuerroman gefunden habe bzw. hier noch ungelesen Staub ansetzen, hust.

Wenn du aber schon frontal abprallst, wird es wohl auch eher nichts für mich sein.

Keine Ahnung. Ich mag allgemein keine Bücher ohne Dialoge (Die Vermessung der Welt - bäh), und Life of Pi fand ich so ätzend langweilig, dass ich es relativ bald aufgegeben habe.

Ich muss allgemein sagen, dass ich mit dem Thema eher Schwierigkeiten habe, auf Karl May & Co habe ich nicht so die Lust, sehe da auch eher wenig Diskussionspotential.

Mit "Ich bin da mal weg!" meintest du konkret das Buch von Hape Kerkeling oder meinst allgemein solche Reiseberichte?

Könnte ich mir generell vorstellen.

Zu den Klassikern:

Jules Verne kommt für mich in Frage, wobei ich sagen muss, als ich den ersten E-Reader hatte, habe ich mich auch auf ein paar der Klassiker bei MR gestürzt allerdings mit eher enttäuschten Ergebnis. Da müsstet ihr schon sagen, was sich lohnt. Es gibt hier bei MR auch James Fenimore Cooper, Robert Kraft, Herman Melville, Robert L. Stevenson...

Wolkenatlas hatte es schon letztes mal fast geschafft und enthält auch abenteuerliche Elemente.

Das hängt so ein bisschen davon ab, wer sich noch beteiligt, sonst suchen wir zu dritt etwas ganz anderes aus und lassen Nominierung und Abstimmung diesmal aus.

Ich finde Verne oder Stevenson und Konsorten lassen sich ganz flüssig lesen wenn man eine modernere Ausgabe nimmt,muss ja nicht immer die gemeinfreie Übersetzung von neunzehnhundertund... sein.

Gerade diese beiden Autoren haben ja sehr viele verhältnismässig unbekannte Sachen geschrieben, bin aber auch für modernere Sachen offen.

Space Opeera immer gerne,dann kann ich wieder Hamilton in den Ring werfen ("Der unsichtbare Killer" war übrigens grossartig, und ich hatte es trotz vierfachen Umfangs deutlich schneller durch als "Contact")

Ich würde wohl eher zum Original greifen. Meinem Französisch könnte es jedenfalls nicht schaden.

Da das Thema Abenteuerroman nicht so die große Begeisterung auszulösen scheint, bin ich dafür das Thema einfach in Abenteuer umzubenennen und Werke aus allen Genres zuzulassen.

Es können also auch z.B. Werke der Fantasy- oder Jugend-Literatur vorgeschlagen werden, die abenteuerliche Elemente enthalten.
