Default font in EPUB convertion

I've been looking around the forum but haven't found an answer to this ¿simple? question.

When converting any document into the EPUB format, Calibre takes as default font the Times New Roman one. Is there any way to force the conversion to create the new document with another font?

I know it can be done individually editing the stylesheet.css document with Sigil, but when this task has to be done in dozens of documents, it can really become tedious.

Calibre definitely does not default to Times New Roman. Calibre defaults to doing nothing at all around fonts. If the document itself does not specify fonts then I believe ePub (and html in general) default to sans-serif.

You can specify a preferred font/font family during conversion by using the extra css configuration under look and feel - just add the css you like to specify your preferred font. Note that Calibre doesn't support inserting a font during conversion, if you choose a font that's not embedded in your epub or included in your reader you'll need to take care of putting that font somewhere yourself.

If you're referring to Calibre's built in viewer, I don't believe it defaults to Times either, but regardless you can go to it's preferences (expand the viewer toolbar to find the icon), and change to your personal preference.

Sorry to disagree, but Calibre DOES impose the Times New Roman font. In fact, just try to convert any FB2 document that does not include any reference to any font, and you'll see that Calibre's EPUB output includes, inside the 'stylesheet.css', the instruction font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif;. It includes it several times: always at the .paragraph specification and at some other .calibre# ones.

On the other hand, I've also tried to use the 'extra css configuration' item to control the output font, trying to change, for instance, to font-family: "Verdana", Verdana, sans-serif;, but with no success.

Odds are that there is something about the fb2 input that's causing Calibre to preserve that style during conversion. I convert from other formats to epub all the time and have never had Times New Roman forced as a font. A search of the source code shows Times comes up in a handful of places, but nowhere related to conversion except for rtf files.

That is a feature of the FB2 Input plugin, which specifies those fonts.

However, it is impossible to control that feature, neither from the preferences nor at conversion time.

Could somebody, please, direct me to some link where I can learn how to control the font of the output file by using the 'extra css configuration' item?
Thanks in advance.
