Failed epub convert to mobi new calibre

Hello all,
I am running windows 8 and have the latest version of calibre 0.9.36.
tried to convert three epub books today from different sources. All failed to convert. Previously had Windows 7 and calibre worked fine. Please help???

It looks like calibre does not have proper access to your temp directory.

"Neil' needs to take ownership of his home directory - C:\\Users\\Neil\\ and give himself full control over it, and all of its contents

Thats done via the Security Tab in C:\\Users\\Neil\\ Properties

I'd be interested to know if this this a fresh Win8 or an upgrade from Win7.
