ARRRRGHHH! I KILLED IT!!!

While fiddling around with the features on Ebook Librarian, I tried to reformat my SmartMedia card. I ended up accidentally reformatting the internal memory instead, and now all I get is a darkened grid screen. And no, I didn't pull the card out while the reader was turned on. Is there any way to fix it? PLEASE tell me there is, and how to do it!!!

OK, I did a bit more research and folloewd the instructions I found, using rebtalk.exe plus a couple of other files. It works...sort of.

Now, it works as long as the power stays on. As soon as the power is turned off, then turned on again, I get the grid screen again.

NOW what do I do?????

Please read this thread that discusses this very SAME problem (if you haven't already).

In my post there, pay particular attention to how Robert J. Sawyer accomplished his "grid" fix.

The "magic" bit here seemed to have been the temporary removal of the
folder on my desktop that had the same name as my eBook ID.
Sorry, but it may or may not work for you.

No dice. I was given the reader used, long after Gemstar shut down their website, so it is unregistered and there is no folder like the one described anywhere on my computer.

I'll keep trying, but I don't hold out much hope.

Tried that. It just won't "take". As soon as it's turned off, then on again, it's back to grid screen mode.

I didn't know they were still supporting the REB1100 at all. What's the number?

Have a look at our wiki page on the device:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/EBookwise-1150

And the Ebookwise homepage is here:
http://www.ebookwise.com/
http://www.ebookwise.com/ebookwise/ebookwise1150.htm

And the help page has links for customer support:

But it's not an Ebookwise 1150, it's an RCA REB1100. Will they still support it?

Sorry, my mistake.

Our wiki has a REB 1100 page:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/REB_1100
with links to user guides and manuals. Perhaps these might just help.

As might these threads:
