Right... although paying $30 for a 64mb card seems excessive to me. There's gotta be a better price for those things. Wow, maybe not. Still $139 is much cheaper than the suggest $199-$249. Why are smartmedia cards so expensive? Probably because no devices use them any more.

yes, if you need 64MB MMC card for eBookman - the price will be $40-$50 for it because almost nobody produce and carry these cards in stock any more.

They aren't MMC cards (MMC was the predecessor of SD and are still easy to buy) but "SmartMedia" cards. The reason they are so expensive is that SmartMedia cards are no longer being manufactured; the only ones still on sale are the existing stock that a few dealers still have. Once they are gone, that's it - no more cards.

yes, two different units but cards are no longer being manufactured for both of them. It is very difficult to find 64MB MMC card for eBookman and price for it the same as for 16 GB SD card now.

Will it really only work with 64MB MMC cards? The MMC spec supports cards up to 1GB, and any SD card 1GB or smaller in size generally works fine in devices which support MMC (such as the iLiad).

MMC is thinner than SD cards. The iLiad supports SD thick cards and MMC format. A device that only supports MMC requires the thinner MMC card which is not available everywhere. MMC is 1.4mm while SD is 2.1mm thick.

Correct. I have eBookman EBM-911 and maximum MMC card that works on this unit - 64MB.
