Linux kernel update!

Hello.

I am very new in Linux programming. I want to compile and flash the Kernel to the iliad. The compilation is working.
But how can I test my compiled kernel on the iliad'?
Is there an "How to flash linux kernel to the iliad"?

Thanks for your help.

BYE

You can flash the kernel with booting via CF - see: http://forum.irexnet.com/viewtopic.p...ighlight=flash

Make sure that you have a way to unbrick your Iliad and also make sure that your kernel-flashing does not have the potential to brick your Iliad beyond the repair capabilities of the built-in reflash...

And let us know if it works...with pictures if possible...

I thought the screen driver was proprietary, and had a 2.4 dependency? Won't you need that to update the kernel?

If you would want to change from kernel 2.4.19 to another kernel, yes, you would probably need another display drivermodule. You could perhaps use the binary module for 2.4.19 for another 2.4.x kernel, but this depends.
Running another majorversion (e.g. 2.2 or 2.6): (Nearly) No chances without writing a new display driver or getting another binary from iRex (see http://forum.irexnet.com/viewtopic.php?t=1569)
