The PRS 950 SC

I have not noticed any outside dimensions given for the PRS 950 SC Sony Reader, but just noticed they are posted on the sony site without the case in inches as follows: 9.84x6.38x2.28 (HWD). The old PRS 900 dimensions are as follows: 7.87x5.04x.38. The new 950 is approximately 2" higher and wider and I feel that is a significant difference. The weight remains the same more or less-.52" difference. The Sony site lists the weight on the 950 as 1.23 oz which is obviously a mistake and they most probably meant to list it as 12.23 onces.
9/18-EDIT: Since ABT.com placed the 950 on its site the correct weight is listed in pounds rather than as on the Sony site in ounces. The apparent correct weight for the 950 is 1.23 pounds which is nearly 4 ounces heavier than the 900 which would make sense.

Where did you see this? I can't find any specifications on the sonystyle site. But both PRS 900 and 950 use the same screen size, and looking at pictures of them it is obvious that they are approximately the same size. The measurements that you have found must be wrong. The PRS 950 should be about as wide as the 900, and slightly shorter.

They have got to be those of the box the reader ships in.

This was also my first find of a black 950 being mentioned.

When you go to Sony.com site and are on the page for the 950, click on search PRS 950 and you will find the dimensions of the new 950. Strange the way Sony hides these matters. I was surprised as everyone else on the new dimensions since the screen size is the same. The weight is approximately .50 ounce lighter despite the fact it has added WiFi electronics. I also noticed on some of the dimensions sony lists "approximately" You might think by this time there could be no doubt about the correct dimensions.
