Replacing Dictionaries
Don't know if it will be useful for anyone, or if it has already been discussed but I found a way to replace existing dictionaries in Kindle 4 PC. I just purchased Harrap's Shorter English -> French and Harrap's Universal German -> French dictionaries, and wanted to test them. They will be used in a Kindle 3 that I already bought, but it's a gift so I can't use it right now, so I tried using them in Kindle 4 PC. Looking into Kindle.exe, I realized the usable dictionaries are "hardcoded" in the program itself, and the dictionaries are identified by their ASIN. So adding the ASIN of the Universal Wörterbuch provided by amazon into Harrap's German -> French did the trick, I can now use the translation (after deDRM of course) dictionaries instead of the original ones (I still keep the original OED). The drawback is, it seems the dictionary to be used seems to be hard coded too : if the language is "German", it will look for a book with the ASIN of the Duden Universalwörterbuch. So if you had for example a Spanish dictionary you'd want to use in Kindle 4 PC, the only way I see would be editing the language metadata of your books and set it to "German", and then replace the Duden Universalwörterbuch with your Spanish Dictionary.
