Does your Kindle have 4 GB of storage? If so, you will need to update to fw 5.4.5, because Amazon made a boo-boo with that firmware.

Does 5.4.5 still jailbreak and run Collections Manager OK? I can't seem to find a working link to 5.4.5 either...
Nevermind on the .bin file, I found it on softpedia. Just hoping it's still jailbreakable Last edited by ryber; 12-07-2014 at 12:06 AM. |

It will preserve the jailbreak, and you are able to downgrade with official bins through a convoluted manual hack even though the jailbreak installer doesn't work.
Since you are already jailbroken, don't worry. You can download updates from here: http://david.smidovi.eu/kindle/firmware-updates/ http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-updates.php -- ixtab doesn't have that one. |

I'm running 5.4.5 now. It all seems to be working. I'm contemplating bumping to 5.4.5.1 for the footnotes fix now. Thank you for the help.
edit: Which I see that 5.4.5.1 didn't fix the footnotes thing. 5.4.5 sounds like a good place to stop. Last edited by ryber; 12-07-2014 at 01:07 AM. |

@ryber: Yep, you have one of the latest 4GB PW2, on which *all* Kindlets are broken before FW 5.4.5.
EDIT: Wheee. Missed a new page. Yay me. EDIT²: FWIW, I have no idea of how the 'footnote bug' is supposed to present itself, but I'm currently reading stuff with a crapload of footnotes without issues on a PW2 on 5.4.5.1. |

Having some trouble building this.
CollectionManager512.getBookletContext attempts to access com.amazon.kindle.kindlet.internal.ui.x, however, in the KindletImplementation-2.1.jar I've extracted from 5.1.2, com.amazon.kindle.kindlet.internal.ui does not contain class "x". In fact, I couldn't find a class with such a path in any JAR files in all images I've downloaded and extracted. I've stubbed out getBookletContext to always return null for now. |

For future reference and search hits, the error message is: "The selected application could not be started. Please try again." And in the logs (show_log output), you can find: 141207:182004 cvm[4013]: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Unknown Kindle device: A3I3CR3NPZFVHY |

@CyberShadow: No build issues here. Can't remember how I pulled the files from 5.1.2 (live device/image/manual patching), but you might have botched the patching .

Pretty sure I didn't. See my pull request. How sure are you that your files are correct?
Note that the code in question is in a try/catch-all block, so you might have had built it against invalid JARs all this time without an exception ever bubbling up. |

@CyberShadow: I *think* I pulled mine from Kubrick's 5.1.2 image. I'll check when I get back home.
EDIT: Hmm. It's in a try/catch block because that code applies to FW 5.1.0 too, so I'm guessing the trickery is to handle both FW versions in the same bit of code. That doesn't prevent the build from succeeding at all on my & ixtab's setups, though :? EDIT²: And, yep, correct md5 hash on my end too . Last edited by NiLuJe; 12-09-2014 at 12:27 PM. |
